NATURAL COTTON

Naturally grown, Lao cotton is soft, beautiful and durable.

For centuries, Phu-Tai, Tai-Leu, and Tai Dam ethnic communities have cultivated a native variety of short-fiber cotton.

NATURAL SILK

Soft, beautiful luster and iridescence is the hallmark of Lao silk.

Village artisans raise silkworms and collect, spin, dye and weave the yarn by hand.

NATURAL DYES

Ethereal, earthy colors plant-based, natural dyes.

Cottons and silks are dyed using natural plants and herbs, collected locally by villagers.

ECO-FRIENDLY

Handcrafted and village-made by local artisans.

Beautifully hand woven silk and cotton textiles using natural dyes, bamboo wares, silver jewellery, bags and accessories.

Taibaan - natural cotton

Naturally grown, hand spun and hand woven on traditional wooden looms, Lao cotton is soft, beautiful and durable.

Taibaan - natural silk

A versatile fiber, silk is cool in summer and adds warmth in the winter. Silk weaving is a deeply rooted cultural tradition among many Lao ethnic groups.

TaiBaan produces a collection of handbags, totes, carryalls, crossbody bags, and clutches, as well as smaller bags and pouches to suit any lifestyle and occasion. For our tech-savvy consumers, we also produce accessories for iPad, laptops, and other smart devices!

Our village artisans only use hand-woven and hand-dyed cotton, silk, bamboo, hemp, and jungle vine (keua piek) to craft all these beautiful bags and pouches. From dyeing and weaving to the finishing work, the value-added income stays in the village.

In addition to using natural fibers, materials and dyes, TaiBaan is committed to reducing waste and upcycling, when possible. Many of our bags are lined with remnant fabrics and fibers. Nothing goes to waste and everything is done to consciously reduce waste and protect the environment.

TaiBaan’s handwoven, natural cottons and silks are the foundation of our home collection, which includes bedspreads, pillow and cushion covers, runners, and other versatile items for the home. All are handwoven and finished in the village. From dyeing and weaving to finishing work, the value-added income stays in the village.

Our bamboo producer groups weave wonderful, multi-purpose baskets that can be used to store clothes and toys or serve as a laundry basket. Tableware, such as bamboo placemats and coasters, come in a range of woven patterns and colors.

In addition to using natural fibers, materials and dyes, TaiBaan is committed to reducing waste and upcycling, when possible. For example, most of our cotton coasters are created from remnant cotton leftover from the construction of bedding, bags and pillows. Nothing goes to waste and everything is done to consciously reduce waste and protect the environment.
